Big Picture
How can we make workplaces more inspiring, innovative, and collaborative? What can we do to help leaders, teams, boards, and organizations tackle change together and excel?

These are some of the key questions that drive me as I partner with clients and colleagues. Ultimately, my goal is to work with great people, to lead responsibly, and to have a positive impact.

10 Facts
i. I’m a Registered Psychologist with a Ph.D. From Stanford University. I was excited to start my consulting life in San Francisco over my last two years at grad school. Silicon Valley offered such a unique mix of start-ups and multinationals, and I was lucky to have phenomenal faculty advisors, and consultant role-models.

ii. Two of the things I enjoy most about applying psychology to the people side of business are: A) the tremendous variety of clients – from new leaders to seasoned CEOs, from AI start-ups to Canadian conglomerates, crowns, universities and non-profits, + B) a similarly varied roster of projects, as you’ll see in the ‘What We Do’ section of this Newton & Company site.

iii. Much of my time involves coaching and advising CEOs, Board Chairs, and Executive Directors. It’s rewarding to work with high impact leaders who are ever tackling complex organizational challenges.

iv. Many of my days also involve planning and facilitating team meetings, or all-staff retreats.  I love working with clients to create a strategic flow, build custom materials, keep the room engaged, and encourage conversations that are honest, productive, and future-focused. We also have a lot of fun staging venues, designing engaging out-of-the-room team activities, looking for unique dining options… For larger events, we bring on a dynamic team.

v. Another key pursuit is using my psychological training and access to rigorous leadership assessment tools to help client leaders target their development, and to help their organizations build solid succession plans.

vi. I was delighted to be a consistently top-rated university faculty member – with amazing students – for classes in Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behaviour, Change Management, Leadership, Communications, Diversity, and Psychology. One highlight was building the award-winning, ongoing ‘E101’ program at UBC, where students develop their own ventures and learn from local entrepreneurs.

vii. Music has been a significant part of my life. Growing up, it was piano, violin, orchestras, and background filler in choirs. These days, I’m working to shake off the keyboard rust!

viii. A similar passion for writing has led me to publish columns and articles in a wide range of magazines and newspapers. I enjoy creating and running award-winning sites, such as  www.justcurious.ca.

ix. My parents always modelled the importance of volunteer work and, for all of us, the Arts + Education have been a primary focus.

x.  No bio is complete without mention of my incredible family, for whom I am ever grateful ♥️
